A Vineyard Valentine episode #6.15 | written by Elise |
Elise's Comment:
The first half of the episode disappointed me. Nothing was happening. We got to see Logan and Rory together... that 11-something scene was actually very cute. They go very well together these two. Then we saw the Boozoo (?) band at the Inn, and Sookie considering cooking Valentine's Day burritos. Nothing eventful.
I thought things would pick up once they got to Martha's Vineyard, but they didn't. I couldn't stand Luke. If he wasn't complaining about the weather, it was Logan, or the clothes he bought, or the waves... what was going on? I didn't understand this attitude of his. What was wrong? I still don't fully understand it.
I thought the basketball would create a confrontation between Luke and Logan. I felt like they had been building up to that. But nothing. There was tension, and it just disappeared the moment Logan gave Luke the necklace. Why did he take the necklace? I don't understand.
Everything came to a climax when Logan's father, Mitchum, arrived. The episode was worthwhile, just for that scene. That confrontation between him and Logan was very intense. Mitchum called Rory his "little girlfriend". I actually thought he would call her much worst. I'm glad Lorelai witnessed that scene. She has some idea of what Logan is going through. I was expecting a longer conversation between her and Logan at the end, when they're waiting for Rory, but what we got was very good. Lorelai is starting to see who Logan really is.
We are too. I like it. Logan seemed vulnerable in that scene. Like Emily, he seems to be wearing a facade most of the time, but last night that wall came down and we got to see all of him. The scene where he is talking to Rory about London was very touching. You can tell that these two are in love. Logan will stand up to his father, he has to. They showed us that confrontation for a reason; something's coming. I like that they are developing Logan's character like that; it makes him look more sympathetic.
Speaking of love, Luke finally told Lorelai he loved her on screen. I don't know if we had seen him do that before. If so, I don't think it happened often. I was so happy for both of them. However, things went back to how they were once they were back at the diner. Why does he insist on keeping Lorelai and April separate? It's insane. Look at all the trouble they put themselves through by picking up the bike. Luke must have a reason do be doing this. Maybe he thinks that Lorelai won't be supportive of April. I really don't get it.
Funny moment:
Lorelai and Rory at the gym. It was so funny at the beginning when they commented on their jog... from the changing room! I especially liked it when they were looking at this work out machine and didn't know what to do with it. Lorelai's comment to the guy who needed it was classic.
Worth mentioning:
Rory is doing a great job at the Yale Daily News. "That's why I usually avoid asking people about their social life". I wonder if we'll be seeing Paris again, or if this is it for her character.
