The Real Paul Anka episode #6.18 | written by Elise |
Elise's Comment:
This week's review is composed of many small comments. I've decided to alphabetize them to be original.
Arrangement: The one between Luke and Lorelai, that April is kept separate from their relationship. It is not mutual. Why isn't Lorelai speaking up and telling Luke? I think the writers might be stretching this to get a big explosion at the end of the season. What a cliffhanger that would be.
Chemical elements: What a song! I always found that making a song out of things you need to learn by heart makes it easier to remember. I still remember my mom teaching me my home address when I was 4... it was a song.
Dad: April called Luke her "dad" in the last bus scene. I think it's the first time she refers to him with that term.
Go Fish: It was so weird to see Emily playing cards, let alone with a child. Lol.
Horses: Oh my god! Mrs. Kim is against women riding horses? This is too hilarious. In what era does she live in? Well, the wedding dress suggests that she might have been frozen for a couple hundred years and brought back for the show. Speaking of weddings, do you think Lane's father will finally make an appearance on the big day?
House: Why do Emily and Richard want to buy a house in Stars Hollow? I briefly read last week's reviews, and I think someone mentioned that they might be buying it for Lorelai and Luke. Maybe it's a result of all the comments they made on her newly renovated home. I still don't get what is going on.
Jess: I was glad to see him again. But what is up with that hair? My burning question is: Does he own that publishing house/art gallery with those 2 other guys we saw? If so, great. But I find it a little unrealistic. And who was that on his shirt? It looked like Rory (but I don't think it was her).
Luke's Diner: It is about the only place in Stars Hollow where Kirk has not worked. I don't think it will ever happen either.
Maps: Logan's friend didn't want to try to refold his maps. It reminded me of Lorelai in "The Road Trip To Harvard" (one of my favourites) who folds Rory's map the wrong way. Rory: "You're folding it wrong." Lorelai: "Is it smaller?" Rory: "Yes".
Mayor: Taylor is town mayor now? In season one, it was an older man (we see him in "Love and War and Snow"). Taylor was town selectman, which we learned during Season 5, when Jackson wins against him (and we never really got a follow-up on that). It's either the writers who can't make up their minds, or I'm confused.
Pancakes: In "Lost and Found", Lorelai and Rory say that Caesar's pancakes stink. Lorelai goes upstairs to find Luke and brings him downstairs to make them pancakes. It was very funny to hear Lorelai bring back the subject today.
Rory: I don't understand why she is still with Logan. I don't like the guy. It wasn't right of her to go see Jess in order to get back at Logan. And Jess was right, he deserves more than this. But Rory really made it clear that she loves Logan. I don't get it, but she seemed very certain... the way she told Jess.
Too many commercials: Is it just me or is this becoming insane? Close to 8h30, there was like 5 minutes between commercials... not even.
