Elise's Comment:

This episode presented a series of goodbyes. The title is very appropriate. I wonder if Amy and Dan knew it would also refer to them when they chose it. In the tradition of later seasons, the season finale leaves fans wanting more. I find it was less sad that last season however, where we saw a seperated Lorelai and Rory. This time, both of them are going through difficult things, but at least they have each other.

Goodbye Luke

Lorelai loves Luke. She said it in a very well done psychotherapy scene. She doesn't love Christopher, she loves Luke. He's the first man she ever really loved. I was surprised to hear her say she never loved Max, but only wanted to. This means that this Luke/Lorelai relationship is not over. It is for now though, but they will be together by the end of the series.

But for now, it is goodbye Luke and goodbye marriage. I did not expect Luke to react so strongly when Lorelai asked him to elope, and then again, I did not expect Lorelai to give him an ultimatum. This scene was very powerful. For the first time, Luke really seemed to be affirming himself, and not only acting because of Lorelai.

Although I always enjoy seeing Chris (wasn't he adorable during that friday night dinner?), I realize that Lorelai will never be with him for the right reasons. He's her go-to guy when she has guy troubles. He's the one she falls back on when she gets lonely. I just hope he sees that. But by the looks of it, he seems to love her (I think he always has).

Goodbye Logan

This storyline got to me, since I will also be going to England in a month or so, and leaving a special someone behind. However, I will be away for a month and not a whole year. I wonder what will happen with the Rory/Logan relationship. I have a feeling it's going to last, despite the distance. I think Logan is the right guy for Rory. I'm just not sure if Logan will even stay in London the whole year. I have a feeling he'll be back after the summer.

That British party Rory threw for Logan was very cool. I had no idea Alexis could speak with a British accent. She looked like one of those women in Austin Powers.

We got another Rory/Mitchum confrontation. I have to admit, Mitchum looked more human this time (compared to that time at the Stanford Gazette). I, like Rory, understand why he insists on sending Logan to London. That's why she wasn't able to tell him to stay. She knows it's the right thing for him.

The last scene between Logan and Rory was very touching. Every single part of it. Logan's cane added even more drama. I am very surprised I didn't cry, because I felt so sad. I also found it very sweet that Logan paid the appartment for a year, for Rory.

Goodbye Palladinos

This was their last episode. It almost seems unreal. They ended with a bang, that's for sure. I think they had a feeling, back when they wrote this episode, that it would be their last. That's probably why they went all out and brought all these musicians they admire so much. I have to be honnest, I thought the troubadour storyline would be more invasive. I'm glad it wasn't. I found it very special to have Sam Phillips on the show, singing. Her "lalas" are such a trademark on the series.

I wonder if they'll be back to write certain episodes. I think the contract they couldn't agree on was about an executive producer position. They might be back to write or direct an episode here and there. I hope so. I hope they ask Amy to write the series finale.

Goodbye Season 6

Well my friends, this is it. Another season is complete. I can't believe that 6 years ago I started a website in the hopes that the show would survive its first season to eventually have a second one. I don't think I expected to still be watching six years later. This was a good season. Contrary to popular belief, I enjoyed the April storyline, and am curious to see where they bring it. I also always thought that Luke and Lorelai would get together at the end of the series, so the season finale doesn't come at a shock. I have hope.

Talk about this episode...
