Friday Night's Alright For Fighting episode #6.13 | written by Elise |
Elise's Comment:
I really enjoyed last night's episode. Really.
I never thought my feelings for Logan would change, but they have. He's proving himself. His efforts to win Rory back are surprising. And the work he did last night at the Yale Daily News was great... even though he "hates" that newspaper stuff, he's good at it. Actually, I think he likes it, he just doesn't like the fact that his father works in that domain too. So hopefully the boy won't disappoint us in upcoming episodes.
I liked how Rory took charge. That's the Rory we know. I hope she becomes editor (and what exactly happened to that Stanford Gazette job?). It would also be cool if she shared the job with Logan. I also thought of the possibility of Logan becoming editor. Anyways, Paris needs to go. She's insane. That sheltered office in the center of the room was so funny... and creepy. Did you see all those articles on the walls? That girl needs some help. It reminded me of Chilton, when they were working on the anniversary issue and she went crazy... except this was far worst. Those caps with numbers are hilarious. And what is so wrong about writing names on cups to reuse them? I have to admit the girl has a point there.
Luke needs to realize that he's shutting Lorelai out of his life by concentrating on April like that. I think I speak for everyone when I say that he needs to introduce her to Lorelai. It won't be a big deal to April. If she had known Luke her whole life, and that he recently had found a new girlfriend, then he should be worried. But now, what difference is it really going to make? That the town people know as much (maybe more) about April than Lorelai does is wrong. Luke needs to find a balance between the two girls in his life.
It was very funny when they were all looking through that window at Taylor's Soda Shoppe (how fun, a Soda Shoppe without Taylor in it!). What I actually found funny was the look on everyone's face as they were joining Lorelai. She looked imprisoned among all those people.
The roles are reversed. It is now Lorelai who is the glue between her parents and Rory. Rory is behaving more like Lorelai as she is growing up... and Lorelai is starting to become more level headed (if that term can be used here). She understands her parents more, which almost never happened during earlier seasons. I also liked that she was the one who brought all of them back together... and Emily had nothing to do with the diner this time around, which was bizarre.
The fight scene was very interesting. I liked the way they filmed it, and cut very fast from one scene to another (it surprised me when Rory suddenly appeared behind Lorelai at one point). A very interesting style. I wonder who directed the episode. It was an original way to portray this "fight". I use quotations, because it was part fight, part resolution. They brought back many subjects. Everything was put back on the table. I liked how Emily brought back the whole Lorelai/Christopher getting married story: "When you get pregnant, you get married. A girl needs both a mother and a father." The loyal fans who have watched since the beginning probably found this reference very funny. Richard and Emily seemed so genuine during the scene. Emily had taken down her facade when she was laughing, I really liked it. We got to see the real side of her. I like to see her without her mask; she's actually a good person. I also like it when she seems vulnerale. While the scene was very cool and entertaining to watch, it didn't match at all with the rest of the episode. But maybe that was the point. Still, it would have been fun to see an entire episode filmed like that.
And I don't care what she says, Rory asked Chris to pay for Yale to hurt her grandparents. That's it, that's all.
