The Perfect Dress
episode #6.11 | written by Elise

WB Summary: Feeling that he has missed too much and wants to get to know his newly discovered daughter April, Luke goes to have a talk with her mother, his former girlfriend Anna Nardini (guest star Fenn). Meanwhile, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) sets a date for the wedding after finding the perfect dress, but she is worried by the nagging feeling that something is about to go wrong. Back at Yale, Rory (Alexis Bledel) happily moves into a dingy off-campus apartment with Paris (Lisa Weil) and Doyle (Danny Strong), and tries to avoid running into Logan (Matt Czuchry). However, when Logan shows up at her apartment and declares his love for her, Rory breaks down. The episode was written by Amy Sherman-Palladino and directed by Jamie Babbit.

Elise's Comment:

I enjoyed last night's episode. A lot. I think I even felt a bit of the Stars Hollow Vibe I used to like in new seasons. That's mainly due to the return of Lorelai/Rory moments (which we all love so much), and the return of Lane at her mother's house. No, we didn't see it when the girls decided to go to Atlantic City, or when Lane decided to move back home. I don't think we needed to.

That little moment between Lane and her mom was very... different. Mrs. Kim has changed. I think she missed Lane, and realizes that if she wants her in her life, she has to loosen up a bit. I wonder what will happen to Lane. Will we still see the band? Will she get a new job? Will she go to school? I actually thought that they kept switching back and forth from Lane to Rory in her new apartment, to eventually suggest that Lane and Rory will live together. Lorelai said it, Christopher would pay for it... it would be so much better. Now the apartment. What disturbs me the most isn't the apartment itself... but more Paris and Doyle. How can someone live with those 2? This is going to be interesting. Very interesting.

I don't like Logan. He was back, behaving as if nothing had happened. And what, 6 weeks had passed (because Mrs. Kim tells Lane that it has been 6 weeks since she has broken up with Zack). I don't know where the writers are going with this. I sure liked the way Paris was talking to him in the Newspaper room.

There will be a wedding, of course there will. It might be postponed, but it will happen. I think Lorelai's feeling of the planning being "too easy" foreshadows the problems that will occur when she learns that Luke has a daughter. I'm glad they are bringing April and her mom in the storyline. Luke seemed so happy when he was looking at April's website. It was so cute. He had that same look than when he gave Rory that necklace on her birthday. I just can't believe he hasn't told Lorelai yet.

Oh, and the perfect dress... I don't find that it suits Lorelai that well. My sister didn't either. Are we the only ones that think that this dress is the not-so-perfect one?

Talk about this episode...
