Bridesmaid Revisited
episode #6.16 | written by Elise

WB Summary: Proud parents Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Christopher (David Sutcliffe) attend a journalism panel at Yale where Rory (Alexis Beldel) dazzles the crowd. Afterwards, Lorelai offers to help Christopher (David Sutcliffe) out by babysitting his 4-year-old daughter and is horrified by the toddler's terrible behavior. The next day, Rory and Logan (Matt Czuchry) attend the wedding of Logan's sister, Honor (guest star Devon Sorvari). While helping the bride and her three bridesmaids get ready, Rory is devastated to learn how Logan spent his time during their recent breakup. Logan tries to defend his actions, but a devastated Rory turns to Lorelai and Paris (Liza Weil) for comfort. Finally, Lane (Keiko Agena) is still heartbroken over Zach (guest star Todd Lowe), until he turns up at the diner with a surprise. The episode was written by Rebecca Rand Kirshner and directed by Linda Mendoza.

Elise's Comment:

I was very happy to hear that Christopher would be back in this episode. I can't help it, I like the guy. I understand his initial reaction to Lorelai's comment about Gigi. I work with children. One thing I have realized is that parents find it hard to admit that their child might need some help or more discipline. I'm glad Chris called back Lorelai. They have such a good partnership these two. They've known each other for so long; it must be because of that. But there's just this spark between them that I've never seen between Lorelai and any other man.

That being said, Gigi is spoiled BIG TIME.

Just as I was starting to like Logan again, we get this big bomb. I can't believe he did what he did. It's “Friends” all over again (Ross: "We were on a break!"). I really have no idea where this relationship is going. I thought they were on track for good... but Logan will have to do something big to get Rory back. Or so I feel.

Will Rory really stay with Paris? Paris seemed back to her old self at the end, which I liked. If she remains this way, I see how Rory could live there. But what if Doyle comes back. I truly think that he and Paris will get back together. Like Rory said, those two are perfect for each other. I still laugh when I picture him in Rory's coat.

The journalism conference was a very nice touch. It reminded me of the debate at Chilton (where Paris tried to raise Rory's WPM, lol). Rory looked very determined and in her element. I'm glad things are working out for her. This is the path she is supposed to be on.

Lane is engaged to Zach! Oh my God! I was expecting her to say "no", right after he said "You're smiling. Does it mean 'yes'?". But she didn't. I wonder what this means. They looked so adorable in the diner like that. It was like an old black and white movie. Babette's comments added a small-town touch. I don't think they should get the band back together though... Zach said it, band mates shouldn't date. Being engaged is way more serious. But I'm happy for Lane. I was laughing very hard when she gave a customer the toaster.

Speaking of customers, Kirk was very funny in this episode. His role was eccentric, but not too much. He tends to cross over to ridicule this season, so I'm glad he had a good storyline. "I feel dirty". hihi.

We got a break from the Luke and Lorelai storyline, except for a short conversation about April. I can't help but think that Lorelai would be a great pal to April... and Rory even more. I hope we get some development in the 6 episodes we have left (yes only 6... time flies by so fast!).

The episode was written by Rebecca Rand Kirshner and directed by Linda Mendoza. I don't check these things often enough to know if they have worked on many more episodes. However, isn't it a good sign that I thought Amy had written this episode? In the event that Amy and Dan leave the show (which I hope never happens), there is still some hope that the show will continue on a good path. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Talk about this episode...
