He's Slippin' 'Em Bread... Dig? episode #6.10 | written by Elise |
Elise's Comment:
I loved this episode, which seems more like a transition than anything else. A lot of things are being built, and others falling apart.
I think they didn't show Luke at the house only because they wanted to focus on the Lorelai/Rory relationship. It was only the next morning, so Luke might have already left for the diner at that time. The bit with Paul Anka was funny. I loved Rory's reaction... it reminded me just how much they are not animal people. But Lorelai is doing pretty well, I have to admit.
Things being built:
Chris is back. I don't like the fact that he didn't work for the money (I'm afraid he'll become lazy), but I like that he's back in their lives. They need him. Rory needs him I should say. The relationship between Luke and Liz has improved with time. I've never seen him act that way with her. I was very glad that TJ wasn't around (I can't stand him). The friendship between Rory and Lane seems to be back on track. If that un-jinx thing wasn't a sign, I don't know what is. I'm glad that they're speaking. But will it last when Rory moves out of Stars Hollow? Rory has found her back to her aspiration to become a journalist. I still don't understand how easily it came to her... but she'll get a wake-up call when she goes back to the Yale Daily... Paris is back to her old self. Remember all that adversity at the Chilton paper?
Things falling apart:
Lane's relationship with Zach and the band is on the rocks, big time. Zach was way out of line. He hurt Lane with his song comment, and then was jealous of Brian when he wrote a song for her? Come on! Are Lane & Zach breaking up? That's what I got from Lane's comment. But will she stay in the band? I would like to see her do something else. Go to school. But looking back, she wasn't that good in school, and only really wanted to be in a band. So I don't know.
Rory and Logan's relationship is non existent? I don't know what to think of this. It's not over, we'll see him again. When? I don't know. He told his family they broke up... it doesn't mean he thinks that. But he knows how that news would please his parents. Then again, he probably didn't want to have to explain the situation.
Luke and Lorelai's perfect state of things is about to be shaken up. Lorelai confessed to him about Chris, while he's keeping everything a secret. Not a good thing.
The girls' relationship with the grandparents is about to explode. Emily will probably overreact. I think it's mainly Rory's relationship with them that will fall apart, not Lorelai's. Remember last week's scene in the plane? It seems that they can only connect with one Gilmore at a time: when it's not Lorelai, it's Rory, and vice versa.
Funny bits:
First place goes to Michel's reaction when he saw Rory. I absolutely had to rewind it twice. “Rory!” The second place goes to Kirk, and his newfound passion for tai chi.
