Lorelai's First Cotillion episode #7.03 | written by Elise |
Elise's Comment:
I enjoyed the episode. It was such a relief, after the previous week. It felt Gilmore-ish... I felt that Stars Hollow vibe. I want to point out that Nina Rimoun wrote the episode. She was one of the executive producers for Everwood and joined the team after it was cancelled. I think we are lucky to have her (to those who don't know, I also loved Everwood).
The scenes between Rory and Lane were really good. They really reminded me of how their friendship used to be, back in the day. Especially the scene in the library. I loved it.
Luke's hat was a very obvious change to me. Remember that he was still wearing that blue one that Lorelai gave him in "Foregiveness and Stuff" (season 1). I think they made him wear a hat with a logo to make it more obvious that it had changed. This is a very strong symbol people... Luke is hurt!
As much as I believe that Luke and Lorelai will end up together, I am not sad to see Christopher come in the picture again. Memamu mentionned that she doesn't think Lorelai wants a relationship with him. I don't agree. I believe that she does want a relationship with him, that's why she calls. Honnestly, I think Lorelai feels lonely and is looking for a relationship, any relationship. Chris is a safe choice. He is a good choice for Lorelai, and those who read my reviews last season know how I feel about Christopher.
The cotillion was something. I can't believe Emily was that hard on those girls. One of them really looked like a mini-Lorelai. I'm glad Lorelai attended it with Michel. It was beautifully done and really had a Stars Hollow vibe to it.
I'm glad Lane and Zack explored "the whole baby thing". I'm glad things are working between them. I have a feeling we'll get many more good scenes between Lane and Zack, and Lane and Rory. I feel a vibe coming.
So this week's episode really left me optimistic about the season. I now believe that last week's emptiness was done on purpose to represent Luke and Lorelai's broken relationship.
