You Jump, I Jump, Jack episode #5.07 | written by Elise |
Elise's Comment: There are no words great enough to describe tonight's episode. I haven't felt so excited about an episode in such a long time. The writers are definitely on the right track this year. I'll divide this week's comment in 3 parts: (1) Rory and the LDB, (2) Luke and the Gilmores and (3) Lane and Zack
Part 1: Rory and the Life & Death Brigade (LDB)
I was overwhelmed by the beauty of all the festivities organized by the LDB. The costumes, the music, the little tents, the talking-without-saying-"e", the small fair... and the amazing stunt. Beautifully conceived and filmed; it was an amazing show to watch (and in the comfort of my living room, thank you very much). My sister turned around and asked me: "Would you have jumped?" I really can not answer, although it would be fun to be Mary Poppins for once in my life ("Practically perfect in every way").
And what about the mysterious, charming Logan? Am I the only one who's completely fascinated by this character? He brings something new to the show, some adventure. I sense great things yet to come. He delivered some of the best quotes tonight:
"People can live a hundred years without really living for a minute. You climb up here with me, it's one less minute you haven't lived." - Logan
Logan: You're scared.
"Do you trust me?" - Logan, to Rory
Rory: It was a lifetime experience.
Rory: Well, yeah.
Logan: That stops the great?
Rory: It's stopping this great.
Logan: Only if you want it to be.
Rory must abide to Logan's 5 conditions (in her article)
1 - no pictures
2 - no names
3 - no physical descriptions
4 - no identification of a location
5 - not interfere with the integrity of the event
Confusion: Is Rory part of the LDB? She received a bottle of champagne and a gorilla mask... it must mean something. And what about those spacious dorm rooms? Come on, does Yale really have such amazing dorms?
Part 2: Luke meets the Gilmore Seniors (because they are getting older)
Let me start with: These people are unbelievable! Why do they insist on controlling everything in their daughter and grand-daughter's lives? And how mean was Richard's comment about Luke just being an image (shaved!) on the menu for the new franchise? Emily was even worst with her roadkill stories, and that comment about divorce ("people get married for fun"). Lorelai summed-up the news of her parents meeting Luke really well in this very funny expression (which I will now use on my not-so-good-days):
"Cumulus nimbus hovering over my head. The black cloud. Was that a drop?" - Lorelai
Part 3: From bandmates to well... Lane and Zack
Is this really going to work? I have to admit that they were really cute all snuggled up on the couch. Something came to my mind while watching Lane this week: Back in season 1, I did not envision her to be where she is right now. Sure, she's living her dream of being in a band, but I expected her to go to college. I miss Dave. I miss Mrs Kim.
End note: Why not end with the week's funniest quote?
"Every potato came through without a scratch." - Seth, about the LDB stunt
